House Rent Allowance (HRA) is a key component of the salary structure for Punjab Government employees. It compensates for housing expenses based on the employee’s place of posting. The rates and eligibility are governed by official notifications issued from time to time by the Punjab Finance Department.
š Eligibility Criteria for HRA in Punjab
- HRA is admissible to all regular employees of the Punjab Government.
- The allowance is determined based on the city/town category (A, B, B1, C, D or Rural) where the employee is posted, not their residence.
- Employees residing in government accommodation are not eligible for HRA.
- If two spouses are government employees, HRA is admissible to only one (as per rules).
